Caitlin and Caleb

Caleb

Caleb is a Colorado native. He was born and raised in Northern Colorado, and he spent a majority of his time living here locally, in Fort Collins. He knows the ins and outs of the city, and he is an expert on the best places to visit for food, a great beer, or an adventure. Caleb has always been a creator. He has always loved to build, create, and innovate. Growing up, he developed a variety of passions including leather working, wood working, and of course, photography. He started his first business at age fourteen, where he powder coated car rims, outdoor furniture, and other items. His junior year of high school he decided to begin the journey of owning a photography business, a difficult feat for just a seventeen year old. He began his career as a professional photographer by shooting largely nature and event photography. He often shot concerts for local bands, and he was even a photographer at Red Rocks. After playing collegiate football at Chadron State for a short time, Caleb returned to Colorado and began focusing on senior photos and wedding and engagement photography. In October of 2016, Caleb and Caitlin starting dating, and by January of 2017 they chose to combine their passions and rebrand Caleb’s photography company, Caleb Michael Photography. The rebranding process took a few months, and by summer of 2017, Caleb M. Photography was known as The Cavern Photography. Caleb married Caitlin in August of 2019, and he loves doing photography alongside his wife. In 2020, Caleb started his own contracting company, Hearth and Home Remodel and Construction. He later spent time as a construction superintendent for H3 Construction and Design out of Loveland, Colorado. In the summer of 2022, Caleb decided he was ready for something new after being in construction for almost 10 years. He took a leap and started a career in tech working for a company called Outsystems. He continues to do photography on the side and he loves every minute. When Caleb isn’t taking photos or working his day job in tech, you can find him snowboarding, golfing, cooking, and building & creating in his shop.

caitlin

Caitlin is a Colorado native as well. As soon as she could walk, she was on skis and skates. She was a leash kid on the mountain (if you know, you know) and a figure skater on the ice. Young Caitlin loved art, sports, and learning. She grew up in a rowdy household, with lots and lots of brothers. This means that she learned early on how to hang with the guys and she believes the wild, fun, blended family she grew up in made her who she is today. As she got older, she became more and more interested in the arts, particularly music. She enjoys singing, playing guitar, and having jam sessions to this day. And though she could definitely be considered an arts nerd, she will drop anything (and I mean anything) to play a team sports. Basketball, hockey, you name it. Caitlin loves sports and getting out and being active.

After high school, Caitlin pursued a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. During this time, she met Caleb, and her passion for photography really began to flourish. Caitlin and Caleb rebranded his company and created the Cavern, and something special soon took off. After graduation, Caitlin worked a job in behavioral therapy. In the evenings and on the weekends, Caitlin would do as many shoots as she could to gain experience and develop her photography skills. After gaining experience in behavioral therapy, she spent time working for local non-profits in Fort Collins, Colorado. During this time, Caitlin received her master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. Even though working full-time and getting her master’s was overwhelming, she made time for photography jobs anytime she could. She found that photography was a release and a true passion that she did not because she had to, but because she truly loved it. Caitlin’s education paired with her experiences in various non-profits lead to her discovering her passion for high school students. In 2022, Caitlin started working for Poudre School District as a high school Severe Emotional Disability (SED) teacher. Caitlin continues to do photography on the side and doesn’t plan to change that. When Caitlin isn’t teaching or taking photos, you can find her playing basketball, skiing, golfing, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
